Hoof Gage
Electronic device for visualizing distribution of forces applied to the hoof
The idea came up from the long dispute about balancing the hoof and its biomechanics. So we decided to find a way to measure those forces. That's how we invented our device.
We've done a lot of research work, discussed many approaches and technics to the mechanical part as well as to electronic part. One of the goals was to develop a tool that can be used by anyone. The size and the ability to interpret results produced the hottest debates. Luckily, we found the consensus. The device will have two parts, mechanical one that should be easily fitted to the hoof without nailing it like a shoe, and the electronic part. This one should be very small and lightweight and attached to the leg of a horse. Next, the results. We've found that the easiest way is to provide the ability to connect it to any computerized device such as a mobile phone or laptop giving mobility to the whole procedure.
Here are some major features:
- Mobile, independent device
- No need to put shoes on the horse
- Wireless
- No programming software has to be installed on the recipient's device. Everything is provided by the Hoof Gage itself.
- Real-time visualization of hoof forces on a standing or a moving horse
